This year, we launch ‘Work of the Week’, a series of short films offering insights into a wide range of Britten’s compositions. 52 pieces have been selected from Britten’s vast repertoire and each film will be presented by staff, trustees, scholars, eminent performers, and other special guests. Our first film, marking the New Year and in time for Epiphany, will focus on Canticle IV: ‘Journey of the Magi’, written in 1971. Lucy Walker (BPF’s Director of Public Programming and Learning) talks about Britten’s setting of TS Eliot’s poem and the work’s unusual and enigmatic character. Filmed at Britten’s Steinway, in his Library at The Red House.

Work of the Week will be available to view every Wednesday on our website, YouTube and Facebook pages.
