A stimulating and rewarding position is available in the beautiful heritage setting of the Red House in Aldeburgh, the house where the composer Benjamin Britten worked and lived with his partner Peter Pears.
This role will include a range of practical horticultural tasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden and contribute to the delivery of activities to engage visitors with the grounds. As the Gardener you will also be responsible for maintaining the garden, within a heritage setting, to a high standard and supervise any contractors required to work in the garden.
With both good knowledge of plants and gardens this you must be passionate about sharing your knowledge with volunteers and visitors as well as sympathetic to the garden’s history. Family-friendly events are developing as a key part of the visitor experience and it is essential to bring ideas to share and energy to the team.
This is an exciting time to join the Britten-Pears Foundation as we look to build our engagement with local, national and international audiences. We welcome applicants with a passion for gardening and sharing that with others including visitors, volunteers and staff as the garden becomes a key part of a visit to this heritage property, archive and museum.
