Wednesday April 1 2020

We are pleased to confirm that on 31 March 2020 the Britten-Pears Foundation and Snape Maltings merged to create a new organisation called Britten Pears Arts. Following the sad decision that the Aldeburgh Festival 2020 had to be cancelled, this felt like a good moment to share some happier news.

At this time it is more important than ever that we all work together, share the burden of this crisis and support each other in every way possible. The financial implications of the pandemic are uncertain for the Britten-Pears Foundation and Snape Maltings individually and becoming one will mean we will be stronger together.

We have created a homepage. At the moment it contains only basic information about the new organisation and it largely direct users to our current separate websites but over time this will change and develop. It is not possible for us to celebrate the coming together of these two organisations now but in due course, and at a more appropriate time, we look forward to marking this important moment.

It is a transformational stage in the history of the organisations that our shared founders, Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears, created.

Our continued thanks to the Arts Council, our funders and supporters, friends and all those audiences who visit and enjoy our wonderful corner of Suffolk.
