Composer Retreat in Aldeburgh

The detached, single-storey property, built in 1963 and located near Aldeburgh town centre, is small, quiet and ideal for single occupancy. It comprises a living area; bedroom; kitchen and bathroom and also a small music room with a piano. The furnishings are comfortable but sparse, in keeping with the lifestyle that Imogen Holst adopted whilst living there. There is no television but wifi is installed.

The property is available for stays of up to one month. Residents will be self-catering. Aldeburgh town is in easy walking distance and residents may, by appointment, access the research facilities at The Red House, Benjamin Britten’s former home, which is located a mile away.

The cost of staying in the house in 2018 is £70 per week. Some bursaries are available to help meet this on application to the Britten-Pears Foundation, but are provided by the Holst Foundation.

Initial enquiries should be made by email.
