A Musical Land: Lecture-Recital
Friday 11 October at 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Due to unforeseen circumstances this event is no longer taking place.
Meet the patrons, socialites and ‘movers and shakers’ who gave British music a new platform between the wars. Mezzo-soprano Diana Moore will be our guide and help us discover how music from the establishment through to the avant-garde found its way to audiences, often with great difficulty. Diana will also touch on how Britten’s early works received their first performances, and how women’s paths varied from those of their male contemporaries. This event will begin with an illustrated lecture followed by an hour long recital. With pianist John Reid.
Please note earlier start time. There will be a half-hour interval at 4.30pm with tea and cake
