Arts Award Exhibition
Thursday 25 July 2019 at 1:00 pm - Sunday 1 September 2019 at 5:00 pm
Over the last academic year, the Britten-Pears Foundation have been working with year 4 and 5 children from Aldeburgh Primary School in the first of a three year project, supported by The Art Society East Suffolk.
The project will enable all pupils from the school to work with the Foundation to develop artistic skills and achieve an Arts Award qualification. This year they explored different art forms, developed new artistic, musical and film making skills and have all worked towards achieving an Arts Award at Discover or Explore Level. For example, children took part in a botanical art workshop where they were taught a variety of painting techniques.
The Arts Award is a unique qualification which inspires young people to connect and take part in the arts. To achieve their Arts Award, young people explore different art forms, participate in arts activities, experience arts events, get inspired by artists and share their arts skills with others. They also create a portfolio to keep a record of their creative journey. They have been supported by an Arts Award adviser from The Red House, who has acted as assessor, facilitator and mentor.
An exhibition of a sample of the work that the children have done for this project is on display in the Imogen Holst Room at The Red House until the end of the summer holidays.
