Discovery Session: Vaughan Williams’ Sinfonia Antartica (1949-52)
Wednesday 18 September at 11:00 am - 12:30 pm£7.50
In 1947 Vaughan Williams composed the music for a film about Scott of the Antarctic, and used much of the music for his Sinfonia Antartica a few years later. It is scored for a huge orchestra, and – like Holst’s Planets Suite – features a wordless female chorus. Learn more about this remarkable evocation of the stark polar landscape. With Lucy Walker.
