Peter Pears’ ‘Moscow Christmas’
Rosamund Strode gave Pears this charming notebook which he used to document the Christmas and New Year he spent with Britten, Mstislav Rostropovich and Galina Vishnevskaya in 1966-67. Affectionately dubbed his ‘Moscow Christmas’, Pears used the notebook as a diary and embellished it with postcards, concert programmes and even his airline ticket. Here we have his entry for Christmas Day back in 1966.

#brittenpears“Great place to visit in Aldeburgh. The history is fascinating (even if you don’t know much about Britten and Pears) and the house, largely left as it was, is rambling and beautiful.”
